Description

The Accredited Data Centre Specialists course is the next step in the American Academy Data Centre Training and Certification Program. It is designed to escalate the professional level of individuals working in the data center environment, with the responsibility to analyze business cases and evaluate technical project plans and design sets for mission-critical Data Centre implementation.

With few exceptions, enterprises today rely heavily on IT for delivering business-critical services, often directly to end consumers. Therefore, it is vital that mission-critical data centers are designed, maintained, and operated with high availability and efficiency in mind. However, many data centers still do not meet full availability, capacity, safety, or efficiency requirements.

The Accredited Data Center Specialist (ADCS) is a 3-day course intended to increase attendees’ knowledge and enable them to act as compatible sparring partners with suppliers. Furthermore, they learn how to verify vendor offers for correctness, effectiveness, and efficiency. ADCS is an essential certification for professional data center managers and personnel, and it is also a prerequisite for those aiming to achieve the CDCE status from the American Academy.

The American Academy ADCS is an instructor-led course that uses a combination of presentation lectures and question-and-answer sessions. In addition, attendees can address specific issues based on their own environments, benefiting from the trainer’s extensive experience and practical insights.

Objectives

After completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the design life cycle of data centers and the stages involved.

  • Discuss requirements with vendors, suppliers, and contractors in great detail.

  • Verify technical design plans, quotes, and vendor/contractor proposals.

  • Understand levels for both data center design/setup and maintenance.

  • Measure data center energy efficiency and identify ways to improve it.

  • Understand building considerations such as bulletproofing, seismic mitigation, fire ratings, and thermal stability.

  • Build raised floors that avoid misalignment, height differences, and leakage.

  • Read a Single Line Electrical Diagram and recognize common design issues.

  • Choose the correct UPS and parallel configuration while avoiding installation mistakes.

  • Calculate battery banks to validate offered configurations.

  • Understand safe EMF distance requirements for human and equipment safety.

  • Understand fundamental cooling setups, CFM, Delta-T, and related factors.

  • Recognize contamination factors and limitations.

  • Understand fire suppression options, gas calculations, and installation verification.

  • Measure and improve data center energy efficiency.

  • Earn the ACDS® certificate from the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM®).
